With
our first retirement village built in 1970, we are long established and experienced
in the practice of caring for our more senior citizens. We offer financial stability,
properly maintained premises, a professional management team and a retirement lifestyle
that ensures peace of mind. Our facilities offer a range of care structured towards
the evolving needs of the senior population. This includes independent residential
living, assisted living through home care and frail care facilities. Our cottages
and villas are sold on a life-rights basis, with flats and studio apartments occasionally
available for rental. Our frail care facility is subject to a month-by-month fee.
As part of our commitment to provide quality customised care, at the outset of our
relationship, we assess the specific needs of each individual. From this assessment
we are able to advise and guide residents in the development of their own tailor-made
wellness programme, focusing on their own individuality. Our wellness focus means
integrating the five dimensions (social, emotional, spiritual, physical and intellectual)
into all services and levels of care. The Trans 50 team believes that a holistic,
balanced life is essential for optimal health. This wellness philosophy greatly
benefits all our stakeholders. With emphasis on the delivery of world-class services,
we consult with multi-disciplinary teams who are able to advise us on and assist
in the development of unique lifestyle enrichment programmes. We number among our
advisors and Ombudsman for our residents, one of the world`s leading gerontologists,
Jaco Hoffman, currently Chairperson for the Gerontologist Society for Africa. With
specific emphasis on integrity and world class customer service, we are striving
to be the leaders in delivering quality accommodation and quality customised care
to the 1500 people who have already chosen to call our villages, 'home'.

Those
History The Helderberg Society for the Aged began in 1958 as a Rotary initiative
as a direct result of an established community need. The Society has since grown
to 4 frail care facilities, 2 assisted living complexes, 8 blocks of flats and 2
cottage complexes. All these facilities are open to all the people of the Helderberg.
Homes, Flats and Senior Rendezvous service centres are situated throughout Somerset
West and the neighbouring towns of Macassar, Lwandle and Chris Nissen Park. The
people in the care of the Society total approximately 800. Our residents come from
all walks of life. In line with State policy those people who still live in their
own homes are actively encouraged to make use of the inexpensive services the Society
offers. The Society directly employs 300 people with a further 100 being employed
by its full-time contractors.
